PETERBILT 389

Just on the road for the Chapman Group, based in Pukekohe, is this fine example of one of the most famous trucks brands to come out of North America - the Peterbilt. With it's setup, extended hood and sharp paint this 389 has a clean-cut low look about it.

When the truck rolled out of the factory it wasn't wearing a visor or air horns. Some of the special features of the Pete include; a painted Bowtie visor, painted cab drop panels, painted air cleaners which have been shaved, all around clear LED lenses, painted rear light bar and Low Air Leaf suspension. The rig is powered by a 600hp Cummins engine through an 18-speed Auto-shift transmission.

The new truck joins another American import in the company, a W900L, which XT featured at the start of last year. The 389 will be normally pulling a flat top B-Train with no fixed run.

Numerous people were involved in setting the truck up and Brenhan Chapman would like to thank all the people who helped, notably (in no particular order) Hayden, Daryl, Clint, Mike, Richard and Kelvin. To complete the truck, new exhausts are going to be fitted in the near future.

XT had the privilege to be the first to publish photographs of the new truck so thanks to Brenhan for the opportunity to feature one cool looking Peterbilt 389 extended hood.
