By Simon Teahan Dibble Transport has always been known for the outstanding presentation of their trucks but this big beast takes it to the next level. The truck is a 2006 Mack Super-Liner LT and one of two new Macks in the fleet the other being a Mack Trident. The LT means the Super-Liner is the Low Tare model. With the 600 Cummins Signature engine (which has been derated to 550hp) and the Transport and General Engineering made bins and trailer it weighs in at 15.6 tonne, allowing almost a 30 tonne payload. Wayne Clarke is the man behind the wheel and his main run takes him to Mount Maunganui for fertilizer which is then delivered to air strips around the rural areas of the North Island. The truck also hauls lime and metal. The Texan style bumper was custom made to Dibble's specifications by MACK with a stunning mirror finish. A stainless drop plate which hangs from the bumper was made in-house. Originally the plate was longer but due to the unforgiving roads the big Mack encounters it was shortened by about 3 inches.
The truck also features 6" stacks, polished offset wheels, chrome air intakes, personalised plate and a stainless visor. Inside Wayne gets all the creature comforts with the new Super-Liner coming standard with climate control, a six CD stacker and power windows.
Earlier in the year the truck travelled South for the Ashburton show along with the T904 (pictured bottom right) and was awarded the People's
Choice trophy. With the addition of the Super-Liner and Trident there are now eleven Macks and three Kenworths run by the company and another two Kenworths run by Owner Drivers in Dibble's colours. |
