This immaculately presented Kenworth K104 8x4 unit is owned and operated by Rene Niovara-Dave of Christchurch. Contracted to Mainfreight the combination hauls general freight all over New Zealand. The truck is a 2003 model and is powered by a C15 CAT engine rated at 550hp.
Attention to detail on this matching combination is impressive, from the personalised plates on both the truck and trailer, the use of clear marker lights on the entire unit, to the airbrushed flames on the cab and the murals that also feature on the rear of the truck and trailer. The external air intakes are a recent addition to the truck and were fitted before the Christchurch show earlier in the year.
Rene's previous truck was a 6x4 Mack Ultraliner which featured murals with a Star Trek theme. Being a CAT powered Kenworth, Rene went for a Catwoman theme and nicknamed the truck 'INSOMNICAT' due to all the night time driving he does.
The rig is a regular traveller on the inter-island ferries and after more than 600,000kms on the clock still looks near new and is a credit to Rene for his thought in presentation and care in keeping the truck in pristine condition.
